Brazilian writer, Patricia Melo, pens what appears to be her first short story, ably translated by Chris Flanders. FLY ME TO THE MOON follows a detective recently diagnosed with "panic syndrome" who is investigating the multiple homicides of two women who died suspiciously. Although the coroner has ruled them as natural. The veteran detective is tasked with finding evidence to prove the deaths are murders. The pace of the story is fast. The length of the story is 13 pages. The characterization of the main protagonist was well done in that I learned a lot about him in the short space of 13 pages. Commendable feat to say the least. The resolution of the mystery was satisfactory if not a bit rushed due to the length. Otherwise an entertaining short story that's worth a read. Cliff Landers is a great translator. I love his writing style. He's translated five of her books so far.Product details
